Best Mission Statement, Ever

Warren, I Miss You

September 7, 2003 might not mean much to you ... but does to me. That's the day we lost one of the most entertaining and gifted singer/songerwriters ever.

Just listening to "Excitable Boy" right now.

Foreign Policy Success

Glad to see we are having such a positive effect in Afghanistan.

The Wisdom Of Jimmy Buffett

From "Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes":

"Good times and riches and son of a bitches, I've seen more than I can recall."

Another:

"Oh, yesterday's over my shoulder, so I can't look back for too long.

Anagram Of The Day

One of my all-time favorite movies is October Sky. It's based on the book Rocket Boys.

I just learned -- this is cool -- that if you rearrange the letters in r-o-c-k-e-t b-o-y-s, you get O-c-t-o-b-e-r S-k-y!

I love that kind of stuff.

These bastards will drag their feet when it comes to an energy policy or health care, but when it comes to re-election "BAM I'M ON IT!"

I can't write how angry it makes me.

But Of Course

And to meet my long-time friend, Jason Fried, founder of the very successful 37 Signals.

Jason and I have corresponded via email and blog entries (at his company's blog called Signal vs Noise) but we'd never actually met face-to-face (or "IRL" as online hipsters are apt to type). So I jumped at the chance to jet to Chicago, see some sites, finally meet Jason and get inspired.

Jet to Chicago I did. See sites ... uh ... it was about zero degrees on Saturday. The only site I saw was Hubbard State Cigar Shop, which was about six blocks from the Sheraton where I stayed. I can brave two below and high winds for a good cigar, but I'm not about to go site-seeing in that weather.

But Saturday evening I met Jason and Sarah Hatter (she handles customer support for 37 Signals and is just a fantastic person) at Club Lucky for some good Italian cuisine and great conversation.

Jason is …
