Just Five Weeks!

Just five weeks until I open the pool! I have a tradition; I get into the pool on opening day and closing day. Last year, the water was 56 degrees on open day! Brrrr.

It's the surest sign of spring around our place.

Married To A Chef!

My wife is not only gorgeous, she's a chef.

My wife makes dessert. Your wife probably brings you a sundae from McDonald's! HA HA HA!

The Gates ... The Crackers?

While everyone is talking about The Gates, I rather like The Crackers.

Sad Picture

This is one of the sadder pictures I've seen in a long time.

Now that headline got your attention!

Isn't it funny how our attention is turned to money so quickly? Want to change the ambience of a room? Simply pull out a $20-bill. Instantly, the tone will change.

There's something about money. The accumulation of wealth is something almost all of us seek.

Yet, wealth in of itself is nothing. You see, we don't want money, we want the things that money can buy.

Cars, houses, vacations. All nice stuff. I like my house. I drive a fun car. I just got back from a "working vacation" in Las Vegas. I've had some great summers in Kitty Hawk, some wonderful autumn vacations in the mountains (my parents and siblings have a cabin at Pine Grove Furnace State Park). I earn a respectable income.

Yet, that's nothing.

Some define wealthy as "not having to work". Okay, in that case, I'm rich beyond belief. You see, if you love what you do, it's not "work". So, I don't work.

But that's still nothing.

True we…

I was listening to Magatune's Jazz & Blues Channel on internet radio when a song came on that I recognize. It's the music from those Cialis commercials.

It's called "Always On Time", by John Williams.

I found that amusing. And appropriate.

Bad Company

" ... it's all part of my rock and roll fantasy ..."

No ... not that Bad Company. The one my son emailed me about:

Do you fancy working for a company that has a little more than 500
employees and has the following statistics?:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year ...

Can you guess which organization this is?

Given up yet?

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group
that cranks out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the
rest of us in line.

But ... How Do They Make Money?

I just love AccuRadio. I listen to it often, as a switch from Folk Alley via WinAmp.

But I have to wonder: How do they make money?

Also; if you don't have WinAmp, you need to download it now. It's the reason the Internet was invented -- free, streaming, commercial-free music.

Found Picture

I found this picture on a computer at work -- Michelle took it before she left last year.

I'm not sure if it's a flattering picture or not, but there are very few pictures of Your's Truly extant.

Enjoy. Or not.

Westminster Dog Show

Watched the Westminster Dog Show on Monday night, and as I type this the final night (Tuesday night) is just starting on TV.

This is great stuff. It's awesome to be able to sit back and watch a dog show.

And Lester Holt is doing a great job.

Phantom Of The Opera

Went to see the movie "Phantom Of The Opera" (finally!) last Friday night. My wife wasn't as excited to see it as I was (an aside: I love love love musicals), but she enjoyed it.

I, on the other hand, loved it. It's number two on my all-time list, a close second behind "Chicago". If Catherine Zeta-Jones had performed the lead in Phantom, it might be my all-time favorite.

You see, Catherine Zeta-Jones is my all-time favorite!

But on the other hand ... Catherine, in all her beauty (she'd be crazy about me if she ever met me ... so I guess it's good we don't meet), could not have carried the musical the way the young and stunning Miss Emmy Rossum did. That young lady is not only gorgeous, but she can sing like you cannot imagine. She stepped in for Sarah Brightman (who played the role of Christine Daae in the 1987 movie) and did an even better job. Wow!

The music's been pouring through my head ever since Friday night. And the romance and sensuality…

World's Coolest Espresso Machine

This is just too cool!

Lifting Again

Kelly (and others) will be pleased to know that I've starting lifting (i.e. "resistance training") again.

Resistance training. What, is this the French Revolution?

Anyhow ... feels good to get a pump on again. And we all know what Ahh-nold says about The Pump! :-)

File This Under "I Want One"

It's Always Something

Patti (my bride) got her heart monitor results today. She had to wear a recorder for 24 hours earlier in the week.

They found an irregular heartbeat. She sees a cardiologist on the 23rd.

Sheesh ... it's always something, eh?

W a Conservative?

Are you kidding me?

According to this article in the Washington Post, our beloved President Bush is not only responsible for the largest deficit in recorded history (let that sink in for a while), but is now expanding the reach of the Federal Government.

If you voted for Bush because you are a Conservative, you are crazy. You've been duped, and folks like me tried to warn you.

You got what you deserved. Sadly, 48 percent of us have to live with your mistake.

... got this guy's autograph. The highlight of the trip for her.

Way to go, Patti!

Oh Yeah, SHOT Show is LOTS Of Fun!

These two were dressed much like Lara Croft, and carried Taser stun guns. Guys lined up all four days to get autographed posters, but I got a special audience with them. Yeah ... sometimes it's good to be me! :-)
